Notable Sacrifices 10
By Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi
The greater our mercy, the greater our love.
Jesus asked Simon the Pharisee a question.
Luke 7:41-42 NIV
“Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
Simon the Pharisee answered promptly.
Luke 7:43 NIV
“Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.”
Solomon received great mercy from God, compared to his elder brother from the same father and mother.
Bathsheba became pregnant after her adultery with king David.
She informed David.
David tried some schemes to get Uriah to take responsibility for the pregnancy.
Uriah, however was too dedicated to go and sleep with his wife, while his fellow soldiers were on the battlefield.
David then sank lower into sin and depravity.
He ordered for the murder of Uriah and married Bathsheba.
Bathsheba delivered her firstborn son and Immediately God struck the boy.
2 Samuel 12:15 NIV
“After Nathan had gone home, the Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill.”
David fasted and prayed for mercy for Solomon’s elder brother, but God refused to hear.
2 Samuel 12:16 NIV
“David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying in sackcloth on the ground.”
Nevertheless Solomon’s brother died.
2 Samuel 12:18a NIV
“On the seventh day the child died.”
Solomon’s story was totally different from his brother’s story.
2 Samuel 12:24 NKJV
Then David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. So she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. *Now the Lord loved him,*”
God loves you.
May your story be different.
May you be promoted and lifted, in Jesus’ name.
