Morning Message of Motivation

Grace overcomes weakness 11
By Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The Israelites were unbelieving and rebellious.
From the Red Sea to the border of Canaan called Kadesh Barnea, they had rebelled against God ten times.
Numbers 14:22 NKJV
“Because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice.”

Their tenth rebellion was their refusal to enter the Promised Land, because the ten spies brought an evil report of the land.
God swore that these men would not enter the Promised Land.
Numbers 14:23 NKJV
“They certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it.”

Even after God sentenced them to wander in the wilderness for forty years, the Israelites continued to rebel in unbelief.
Israel never seemed to learn how to believe God and walk in faith.
They saw God’s miracles and wonders but they still failed to develop their faith.
Hebrews 3:10 NKJV
“Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.’”

It was very frustrating for Moses to lead such stubborn and rebellious doubters.
God told Moses to take the rod, but he was not to use it.
God told Moses to speak to the rock.
Numbers 20:8a NKJV
“Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water”

Moses reacted angrily when Israel murmured again because of the water shortage.
Numbers 20:10 NKJV
“And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?”

Moses spoke in anger.
He also angrily struck the rock twice with the rod.

May God’s grace enable you to control your temper.
May you never forget or forsake the clear instructions of God.
May you always be obedient, in Jesus’ name.
