Grace overcomes weakness: 14
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi
Grace is a special favour that flows out of God’s love towards people who are undeserving of the favour. It is that grace that sent Christ to die for sinners.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Sin is any rebellious act against the law of God.
1 John 3:4 KJV
“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
Every sinner therefore is automatically a law breaker. Every law breaker is supposed to pay the penalty of the broken law.
Romans 6:23 KJV
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
The grace of God found a way to deliver sinners from death and also to give them the gift of eternal life. God did all this through Christ Jesus.
John 3:17 NKJV
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
God hid some great truths of Christ’s salvation in certain Old Testament (OT) stories.
God’s hidden truths in these OT experiences are revealed in the New Testament.
This is known as “Types and shadows.”
In this story, the rock represented Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:4 NKJV
“And all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.”
The water that came out of the rock represented God’s Holy Spirit and salvation.
John 7:37-38 NKJV
“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
May you always see a clear picture of God’s abundant grace. May God strengthen you to be merciful as He is merciful, in Jesus’ name.
